Quante persone del mezzo milione che vivevano nell’area del terremoto – e quanti dei centomila sfollati – ci sono ancora, e hanno voglia di raccontare? In questo cinquantesimo anniversario, molti hanno già provato a farlo, con discorsi e fotografie, cerimonie e documentari. Che cosa possiamo aggiungere? Poco, ma è un poco che ha il sapore intatto del tempo: la protesta delle tendopoli prima, e l’epopea della ricostruzione dopo... Il terremoto, in fondo, è stata la piccola guerra di una generazione: un evento che ha segnato tutti e ciascuno, obbligandolo a decidere quali sono le cose importanti, quali quelle che vuole conservare. E che ti costringe a cominciare daccapo… Questo non è un saggio sociologico, e non racconta il vertiginoso cambiamento causato dal terremoto, la brusca accelerazione di fenomeni prima timidi e appena accennati. Ma è certo che, dopo, nulla è stato più come prima. Questo è più semplicemente un libro che può aiutarci a ricordare.
