Il kalashnikov è diabolicamente perfetto. Può trasformare in killer anche un bambino. È l’arma che ha fatto più morti nella storia dell’umanità. Ovunque sul pianeta il fucile d’assalto sovietico distingue chi ha il potere da chi non ce l’ha. Domenico Quirico, storico inviato di guerra dai fronti più pericolosi, racconta le scorribande di questa arma. Che a suo modo si contrappone a chi sventola bandiera bianca. Agli inizi della guerra in Ucraina Quirico suggeriva al Papa un viaggio sulla piazza Rossa e a Kyiv come negoziatore disarmato. E questa idea è riapparsa di recente quando Francesco ha proposto di usare la bandiera bianca. Come capitò con un foglio bianco in tasca a Giandomenico Picco, negoziatore Onu straordinario, morto da poco in America. Iniziò su quel foglio vuoto il negoziato concluso con il ritiro dell’Armata rossa da Kabul.
