Non un libro sulla guerra in Ucraina, ma un diario di viaggio che si muove attorno al conflitto, lungo i suoi confini, in cerca di parole di pace: dialoghi con chi si rifiuta di andare a quel fronte e si impegna per far tacere le armi. Voci difficili da ascoltare: attivisti moldavi, pacifisti russi, disertori ucraini, giovani della Transnistria in attesa del futuro, contadini che si ritrovano a gestire campi di accoglienza per rifugiati. MIR è il racconto di quel che sta accadendo in Moldavia, Paese di frontiera che dal febbraio 2022 è diventato terra di transito e approdo per i cittadini ucraini in fuga dalla guerra. Un Paese che rischia di essere coinvolto nel conflitto, ma in cui la società civile non smette di interrogarsi sulla via per giungere alla pace e sul significato della neutralità iscritta nella sua Costituzione.
FRANCESCO VIETTI Antropologo culturale, insegna all'Università di Torino. Dal 2005 conduce ricerche etnografiche nei Balcani e in Europa orientale. Tra i suoi libri, Hotel Albania. Viaggi, migrazioni, turismo (Carocci 2012) e Il paese delle badanti (Meltemi 2010, 2019), sulla migrazione moldava in Italia. È in libreria con MIR (People 2024).
LUCIANA BORSATTI Giornalista e scrittrice. Ha lavorato all’Agenzia Ansa, dove è stata anche corrispondente dal Cairo e da Teheran. Sulla sua esperienza egiziana ha scritto Oltre Tahrir (Eir 2013). Con Castelvecchi ha pubblicato: L’Iran al tempo di Trump (2018; 2020); L’Iran al tempo di Biden (2021); Le indemoniate (2022); Iran. Il tempo delle donne (2023).
