There has been much talk about stem cells lately. Medical science is currently attempting to regenerate, if not entire organisms, at least living organs. What we are now experiencing is nothing short of a therapeutic revolution. However, as in all scientific revolutions, regenerative medicine – a field in which Italian research has made very significant progress – requires us to distinguish between what is already a reality and what remains a hypothesis yet to be verified. What is more, every scientific revolution raises new questions and new ethical issues, the importance of which should not be underestimated. These are the questions our panel will attempt to address.
