Festival presentation

Our global macro-systems, bound within an economic orthodoxy whose fragility is only too apparent, continue to preclude a future different from the present. We have surrendered ourselves to the present, a present in which desire is stymied by consumption, communication by digital connectivity and society is replaced by the loneliness of the crowd.  This has led to a freezing of the political imagination. We want to try to imagine and think about a future that is different from the world we know. What future do we desire as individuals and what collective history can we put into motion? Can citizens and public and private institutions shape the contours of a new utopia – one that is not merely a nostalgic return to the past? Can we, through participatory involvement and ultra-modern means, return to the difficult question of democracy?
